Amaïa Floréal - 14U Head Coach

About Me:

I am Coach Amaïa Floréal, AKA Coach Flo 3.0 on Instagram, a dedicated volleyball enthusiast with a passion for coaching. Having played volleyball year-round from the age of 11 to 18, I developed a deep understanding and love for the sport. Although I had offers to play in Division 2 and Division 3 universities in the United States, I made the decision to return to Canada and focus on my post-secondary education as an Education student. Throughout my journey, I have gained valuable experiences playing club volleyball in Winnipeg, Seattle, and Minnesota, where I finished my senior year.

Coaching Experience:

Since then, I have had the privilege of coaching teams ranging from 13U to 16U, both in Minnesota and Winnipeg. With mentors who are highly successful coaches and serve as inspirations, I have developed a deep appreciation for the intricacies and details of the game. My coaching experience extends beyond teams, as I have also worked with athletes aged 11 to 18U through summer and fall training camps as a lead coach.

Coaching Philosophy:

I am passionate about providing a diverse and inclusive space for my athletes, fostering not only their athletic development but also their personal growth. Mental health advocacy is close to my heart, and I ensure that my coaching goes beyond the court, offering life lessons through drills and teachable moments. I find joy in witnessing players "get it" during practice or a game, and take pride in helping athletes piece together all the aspects of the sport and thrive.

Coaching Style:

I believe in striking a balance between fun and hard work during practices. While I enjoy bringing smiles, music, and the occasional dance session to the court, I am a tough love coach who pushes athletes to meet their full potential. I see the potential in every athlete and strive to help them surpass their limits. Firm but fair, I value honesty and integrity, instilling these values in my players as we compete.

As a firm believer in the power of enthusiasm, I'm not a fan of quiet volleyball. Let's get loud, Dynamo!

Off-Court Support:

As a self-proclaimed lifelong cheerleader, my commitment to my athletes extends beyond the volleyball court. I am eager to support and encourage their pursuits in other passions and hobbies, whether it's attending school plays, art exhibitions, or any endeavor that brings them fulfillment. I feel privileged to be a part of their journey, even beyond our time together on the court. It is truly an honor to have athletes keep me updated on their accomplishments and milestones long after the season concludes.
